Bob Carr and Chris Chatfield, two classmates from 5A (1960), served in the Writer Branch of the Royal Navy for 22 years and kept in touch.

Bob and Chris met Ted Saunders, with whom Bob served in Malta, at a Portsmouth Old Boys Meeting. They subsequently bumped into another former classmate, Ron Lansley, at a reunion lunch onboard HMS Warrior and, at this point, the idea of a "Class 5A Circa 1960 get-together” was hatched.

They then tracked down Andy Wood and now know the whereabouts of David Barnden and David Davison. Bob is trying to trace even more of the 1960 5A boys in hope that they can get together for a reunion next summer.

The picture below was taken at a restaurant in Port Solent on Saturday 1 October 2011, when some of 5A 1960 meet up.

Further to John Winlow's comment of 23 January, for which we're grateful, I think you will find John is referring to Richard Armitage (Hood). In addition to Richard, we are still trying to trace Barry Court, Henry Pike & Francis Doe (Hood), Russell Walle (Cornwallis), Richard Groves & Brian Battershall (Howe) Malcolm Clarke & Jeffrey Neale (Nelson), Paul Larner (Blake), Bruce Baker (Hawke), Raymond Timmins & Michael Travis (Drake), David Sample (Collingwood) and Michael Fitzgerald (Raleigh). If anyone is in contact with any of the above and they wish to know details of our planned reunion in order to participate, then please ask them to email class5a1960@gmail.com
