The Royal Hospital School band was honoured to be invited to play at the England v France Sixth Nations Rugby match on Saturday 26 February. The band led the singing of ‘Jerusalem’ and the two national anthems in addition to playing traditional English rugby songs during the pre-match entertainment.
The Band is an important part of the School’s tradition and it is directed by former Corps Bandmaster of the Royal Marines Band Service, Mr Roger Jones. Not only is it a marching band but a concert band as well. They have travelled to the United States performing concerts on Independence Day in Boston and then in New York, Williamsburg and Washington in 2008 and last year in Las Vegas, San Diego, Universal Studios and Disneyland in Los Angeles on the West Coast of America.
