London - Cardiff Group ShotAlexis Haycock-Hadden ('03) and three other BBC ladies are running the 151 mile route from London to Cardiff in 7 days from 9th October to 15th October in order to raise money for Sport Relief.

Over to Alexis:

"I originally came up with the idea because I am half English, half Welsh and so had the (strange) notion it would be fun to run from England to Wales. Then, watching Eddie Izzard's plight as he ran around the whole of the UK, I decided that it was definitely something I wanted to do. Having been at the BBC for 6 months, I thought it would be wise to see if anyone else wanted to join me, as it would otherwise be a fairly lonely experience and 3 ladies came back saying that they wanted to be involved.

We will be running for at least 21 miles per day during the challenge, and this could take us anywhere between 3.5/4 hours, but probably longer with fatigue. All of us are keen runners, having competed in various 5ks, 10ks, and marathons and we ran the Sport Relief mile (or 6 in our case) on Sunday 21st March. Last year I completed two half marathons within two weeks for charity.

We are currently following a training schedule and should be bang on target to run in October!"
