OLD BOYS SHIPWRECKED!

ShipwreckedA great time was had by all 23 people who attended the 1979, 30 year reunion. First a tour round the School by 6th Form pupil, Cameron - the son of Niall Allan who was in Collingwood from 1979 to 1984. That was followed by several of the Collingwood lads having drinks and nibbles at Mr March's. Lots of memories there!

Then a wonderful meal and one or two shandies at the Shipwreck, Shotley Gate. Again lots of memories and friendships rekindled, then off to bed in the wee small hours.

Sunday saw us watching Divisions with various comments like "It wasn't like that in our day" and from some of the old guard members, "remember Fred Coombes getting upset when we fired a volley that sounded like a machine gun!"

Then to Chapel, where I saw at least three old boys with tears on cheek singing heartily to Jerusalem.  Many sad farewells after Chapel but then an enjoyable chat round at Maggie and Bob Good's with soup and rolls kindly provided.

My thanks to all who attended - and yes we will be back next year by popular demand, hopefully with our numbers swelled.

Many thanks to the School and particularly Katherine for assisting in the planning of the event.
